Description
Warm Antique Glass Locket February 20Lockets have been around in some form or another for hundreds of years. They emerged from jewels that might be more accurately described as vessels meant to hold perfumes or tinctures or herbs. The locket as a holder of keepsakes portraits (photographic or earlier), hair, and the like rose in popularity in the 19th century and has been particularly popular during wartimes ever since, as a way to hold close to you those who are physically far. We love
the earliest known version of the rhyme (dating back to the early 1600s) makes no mention of their harm
along with the volume created by negative space between the hoops
communicating that you know a little something about standing out in a crowd
and one "pearl" is an imitation stone
Minor evidence of a past partial reshank with subtle solder seams and a duplicate of stamping inside
The centre stone was more than likely a later replacement
Very good vintage condition with reasonable wear and slightly out of round
perfectly showcases the lovely blue schiller - the distinctive effect where the light seems to float over the stone
maker's mark P&M Ld
Predator's gentle woodland cousin sitting down to a bowl of soup in a wee mushroom house
A sweet little initial charm featuring a softly textured W in a diamond-cut halo frame that sparkles and catches the light
Fair vintage condition with wear to enamel
